Manchester United are planning a shock deal for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Red Devils are preparing for an exciting summer transfer window and there could be a big spending spree if they qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League this month.

In that case, Corriere claim that United could join Juventus in the pursuit of Tonali. They could be prepared to pay €100m to bring the talented Italian to Old Trafford from the Magpies this summer.

Tonali was on the Red Devils' radar during his time at AC Milan but the Magpies won the race for his services. He has been a fundamental player for them despite his lengthy betting suspension.

The Magpies are unlikely to consider his sale if they qualify for the Champions League with a top-five league finish, but the scenario could change if they miss out on the competition.
