Arsenal are expected to complete the signing of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia during the summer transfer window, as per The Independent.

The Gunners wanted the Spaniard to replace Aaron Ramsdale last summer but a deal did not materialise. Espanyol refused to accept anything less than his release clause as they had no time to pursue a replacement.

It is now claimed that Arsenal are still in pole position to land the 23-year-old, who has played a big part in Espanyol's survival in La Liga. He has made a stunning 134 saves from 34 league appearances.

Espanyol are ready to sell the shot-stopper with their best wishes this summer. Arsenal previously agreed personal terms with Garcia and a move will be fairly straightforward when the window reopens.

The Spaniard has a release clause worth £21 million in his contract, but Arsenal remain optimistic of signing him for less. They were ready to pay around £17m last summer and could sign him for the same.
